I hope you've all had a fun time off-track! Our new classroom is across the hall in room #110 with the big window from the hall. :) I'm looking forward to seeing my students tomorrow!
As you get ready to send your child tomorrow, please take note of a few housekeeping items. Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast each morning. We are the first to lunch at 11:15, but before Christmas I had a handful of students who were very hungry during the morning and this affects their learning. Also, please think about a snack you can put in your child's backpack to get them through a couple days, or the week. Last but not least, please remember that it is very cold outside and to bundle your kiddos! :) (The temperature needs to be below 18 degrees for it to be an inside day.)
I meant to get this out earlier, but I've been fighting a kidney stone over break. You are welcome to have your child log-in to the following address on the computer or tablet and have them start doing some computer coding! We started some computer coding lessons in December, and they LOVED it! Please bookmark the following address and have your child click on their class number and then their secret password picture (I'll email it to you just in case they forgot it.) They will then start with lesson number one. They don't need to watch any videos unless they don't understand the new concept being taught. They should work on their coding games in order. I can observe their progress on my end and help at school when needed.

If your son or daughter is an i-Ready reading student (they know who they are), please have them work on a 20-30 minute i-Ready lesson today if possible so they can get back in the swing of things. They will be tested next week on their mid-year progress. Some of you may have been doing this all along, and that is great! If you need your child's password, please let me know.
I will facilitate my volunteer schedule by sending out a sign-up schedule. Those of you interested in helping in the classroom during our Literacy hour, feel free to sign up as your schedule permits. Signup Genius should prove to be easier to use in facilitating our year-round volunteer schedule. If you can't come during that hour, please feel free to email me other times you would be available to help in the classroom, test students, read to students, etc. If you are unable to work in the classroom, please let me know as I have occasional things I could send home with your child. :)
Last but not least, this FRIDAY is Silver Crest Day at Classic Fun Center! All Silver Crest PTA members are invited to Classic Fun Center on January 20th from 5:30-10pm with free skating admission. Non-members will need to pay $1/person or buy a membership to get the entire family in for FREE! Other activities will be offered at a discounted rate. This will be a fun evening for the entire family!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed working with such an amazing group of parents this year! I love my class and thoroughly enjoy coming to work each day to teach your children!
Have a great rest of the week and I'll see your child tomorrow bright and early!
