We will be having “Grinch Day” this coming Thursday, November 29th. Students are invited to wear Grinch shirts, green, or anything else having to do with the Grinch story (for example, hair like the Whos from Whoville). Grinch week coincides with our school "Kindness Week" and we will be talking about our attitudes, kindness, service, etc., as we read and write about the Grinch and how his heart changed. It's sure to be a fun week!
Thank you!

Housekeeping Items...
I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving break. It's sure good to be back with my fun class!
Now that the cold weather has arrived, I'd like to remind parents to please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Your student has two recesses and it can make for a very uncomfortable recess if your child is not dressed for the weather. Please make sure your child comes to school wearing a warm coat and appropriate shoes. You may also want to consider sending your child with any of the following items to keep them extra warm during their recesses: gloves/mittens, hat, scarf, etc. I want to make sure my students are dressed for the weather so they can enjoy their time outside in the fresh air. :)
Also, this is a friendly reminder to plan ahead for snack. Feel free to have your child put multiple bags of snack in his/her backpack so it will last them a few days or a week. Some parents find it helpful to send a box of crackers, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc. for their child and I'll keep it in my cupboard with his/her name on it. Whatever works for you, works for me.
Last but not least, I am fortunate to have 11 iPads in my classroom this year. My students use them daily in math/reading centers and with our school i-Ready reading program to enhance the language arts skills being taught in the classroom. My classroom headphones are starting to wear out and some children prefer certain kinds over others. If any of you are able, or interested in sending a pair of headphones for your own child's use, please send them to school in a zip-lock bag and your child will keep them in their own cubby to use daily, as needed. (These headphones will return home at the conclusion of the school year.) Please be advised that this is optional, and your child will not be left out of iPad use if they do not have their own headphones. :)
I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of your child's education! I have the most amazing students who are so willing to help others. They are hard workers, well-mannered, and a delight to teach!
Have a great evening!
