We've had a fun and busy last few weeks. I'm almost finished testing reading levels for the month. I'm very pleased with how my students are progressing. Please ask your son or daughter if they jumped a level! Please continue to have your students READ, READ, READ daily. Especially with literacy, students will not improve unless they practice. I do as much as I can at school, but the at-home reading is just as crucial. Reading books at his or her level is important. Please remember to have your kids read books from Raz-Kids. There are hundreds of leveled readers at your fingertips. If you have forgotten how to log in, the address is: www.kidsa-z.com, teacher username is: cpatterick0. Your child knows his or her password.
We LOVE volunteers!
I really appreciate the volunteers who have been coming in to run literacy centers. We LOVE volunteers! If any of you parents are interested in volunteering, please refer to the following link for dates and times available.

Housekeeping Items...
*PE is each MONDAY. If your student wears boots to school, please send running shoes in their backpack for PE.
*We have snack daily. Please help your child pack some nut-free snacks in their backpack so they can be prepared for snack each day. Some parents find it helpful to send a bag of treats to be kept in the classroom that will last a few weeks. Or..students can keep their treats for the week in their backpack and pull it out at snack time. What works for you, works for me. :) We have snack Monday-Thursday.
White Ribbon Week
You may have seen the "White Ribbon Week" paper that was sent home. White Ribbon week is a positive school program that helps kids make healthy choices in Media and Technology. Every day the students will learn a new principle of online behavior reinforced through discussions and fun activities!
Wednesday is Silly Sock Day (Don't be silly and let personal info slip out!)
Thursday is Wear WHITE Day. (Let's remember white ribbon week all year round.)
Friday is Crazy Hair Day. (Sometimes people act a little crazy and "pretend" to be who they're not.)
BOX TOP STORE IS TOMORROW!!
Please send your Box Tops in! PTA does NOT want them taped to paper this year. Just bring current (not expired) Box Tops cut out and kept in a little bag.
Have a great evening and remember how much I enjoy teaching my awesome class! These students are amazing and a joy to teach!
