Hi Parents! In case you aren't aware, USDA is paying for all student lunches until the end of 2020. I want to make sure you are aware so you can take advantage of the deal while it lasts. :) The letter is below.
If you'd like to view what our school is serving for lunch on any given day, please go to my homepage and click "Ridge View Elementary" and then click on the red button "Lunch Menu." Make sure to click on the month you're looking for. If it doesn't load, just refresh the page and it should come up. ~Mrs. Patterick Dear Parents, Thanks to a USDA free meal waiver, Jordan School District Nutrition Services will begin offering meals at no cost to all enrolled students beginning Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 at all school locations. No students will be charged for breakfast or lunch. All schools will serve free meals in the school cafeteria. The meals will be served based on current serving schedules already established at each school site. Online and at-home learners may pick up meals at specific times and locations designated by each school. In addition, beginning September 14th, free lunch and breakfast for the next morning will be available curbside for all children 18-years-old and under at the following locations:
Children must be present to receive meals. Only children are eligible for free meals under this waiver. USDA does not guarantee the length of this free meal waiver. They are committing to free meal service through December 31st, 2020 or until current funding runs out. Due to the potential expiration of this waiver, we are encouraging parents to continue applying for free and reduced meal eligibility so that they won't experience a lapse in benefits. Hi Parents, I'm just sending a reminder that each Thursday your child will bring home a 2 or 3 page packet of homework to do on Friday. This is not busy work. We as teachers will send home a review of some of our lessons that were taught during the week. Your child will have some math, reading and writing work. Please encourage your child to complete the work on Friday while they are not in school. Those students who return their homework the following week will receive a ticket for the treasure chest! I have already enjoyed working with some students today one-on-one. If I need to work with your child in small group, or one-on-one, I'll email you and we'll set up a time for your student to arrive at the school. If your child cannot attend in person, we will set up a Zoom time. In-person tutoring is always preferred, however, if your child cannot come to the school, I would absolutely be happy to set up a Zoom appointment. Please make note of the following items: *Our PE day has changed from Tuesday to Wednesday. Please send your child with good running shoes each WEDNESDAY so he/she can fully participate in the PE curriculum here at Ridge View Elementary. *If you would like to access our lunch menu, please refer to the home page of my website. Click on "Ridge View Elementary" and then the button "Lunch Menu." Our school does not send paper menus home anymore unless requested. *Please remember to send a daily snack for your child. If you would prefer to send a box of crackers, fruit snacks, etc. or a baggie of snacks, please label with your child's name and I would be happy to keep them in my snack cupboard for your child to access daily. Please NO nuts or peanut butter items. *I will be sending home the login information for Raz-Kids, our program with hundreds of books at your child's individual reading level. Your child is invited to read these books as part of his/her 20 minutes of reading each day. Stay tuned for more information. I love my class and can't wait to see how far they grow this school year. I am grateful for caring parents who are involved in their education and I have enjoyed talking with every parent I've had the opportunity to meet so far. Have a great weekend! ~Mrs. Patterick |
