After several long days of preparation, our first grade team is ready to post our digital learning lessons! Tomorrow morning Canvas lessons will go live and your child will be able to access each day's lessons the morning of that school day. Please note that Mrs. Helton's music lesson will be available for the next couple weeks while we are teaching online. Your child does not need to complete it or even view it by tomorrow.
Our team has created fun, meaningful, interactive lessons for our students that go along with our curriculum. After your child becomes familiar with Canvas, they should be able to easily access these lessons on the site. Some lessons direct them to a Nearpod link, an award-winning interactive site. With our reading lessons, they may be directed to Flipgrid where learners can reflect, discuss and share their answers through a secure video that the teacher can view. This is pretty fun. When they get to these lessons, the instructions will direct the students to use their student lunch number to continue. It should be pretty simple as most of them are getting really good at using their lunch number to access digital sites! We hope our students will enjoy these lessons since they cannot be in the classroom directly with their teacher and peers.
Our team will continue to work hard each day in preparing online instruction for our students. Please encourage your child to do their best, however, if it does get overwhelming, don't hesitate to give them a break! We don't anticipate that these daily lessons should last more than a few hours to complete. Some fun "brain breaks" we do in class are found on gonoodle.com. Your child will enjoy getting their wiggles out to musical activities found on this site. :)
If you have any questions or encounter problems with Canvas, please contact me immediately and I will assist you. I will be available to reach through email during school hours. I'll be unavailable during my lunch break which is from 12:30-1:15.
I hope you and your family will enjoy time together and create some fun memories during this crazy time in our world. Be safe and use plenty of hand sanitizer. :)
