Wow! What a crazy end to our first grade year! In my 27 years of teaching, I have never experienced any pandemic or emergency that has caused "distance learning," like we've had this year. I would like to thank all of you, however, for hanging in there and supporting and encouraging your 1st grader and helping them finish their school year through digital learning. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This was a huge learning experience for all involved.
Please know how much I've loved working with your child. I will always have a special place in my heart for these kids. I hope they will always stay in touch. If your child was not able to join our last Zoom meeting on Friday, not to worry, I have attached a link to the recording on a button below! I've also included below, a short video we teachers put together to remind the kids of the fun year we had together.
With the school year ending the way it did, please continue to encourage your child to read through the summer. It is imperative this year, more than ever, to have these kids keep up their reading skills. I will continue to keep their logins current for Raz Kids and Lexia. They should also be able to continue to work on Prodigy (Math games and instruction) as long as the school's license is current.
Please go onto Skyward, if you haven't yet, and schedule a time to go to the school and pick up your child's belongings and hand in Chromebooks. Report cards will be included with their belongings along with a little surprise from me. :)
I have terribly missed my students and can't wait for the time when I get to see them again. We haven't experienced a culminating end of the school year that the kids deserve, but hopefully the following videos will bring some type of closure. This is definitely a year to remember. Have a great summer, and please know how much I have enjoyed being a part of your child's first grade education. The sky is the limit for each of these children. I can't wait to see them again!
Sincerely, Mrs. Patterick
